At the moment, some professional trading firms are paying dYdX validators to run dedicated node infrastructure with the goal of improving their trading execution and performance. By submitting orders through an RPC maintained by a professional validator team, and presumably with better peering capabilities, the trading firm may have a slight advantage to other participants.
Our goal with this grant is to democratize access to highly performance RPC nodes, and to improve the overall performance of order gossiping by having the majority of validators persistent peer with this node. With this node open to the public, traders don’t have to worry about where to send their order (e.g. spamming multiple RPCs). They can submit all orders to the Gateway RPC, which is custom built to process orders quicker than standard nodes.
Newmetric has tremendous experience in running high-performance, low-latency RPC and node infrastructure on Cosmos chains. This grant will serve as an initial three month trial, to assess the improvements seen and work required for maintaining the node.
